For what its worth, you certainly don't have to generate a Rails controller from the terminal. Its just a convenience method. A question though: Several times throughout the article it talks about how Ramaze is not like Merb. However, ba

Putting Linux on it really isn't as big of a deal as it was at one point. I've only tried with Ubuntu though, for what thats worth. 7.04 was somewhat of a nightmare. Off the top of my head... you couldn't use the normal installation media

No one said anything about truth or falsehood. The truth, unfortunately, does not just automatically win in an argument.

I'm so tired of that comparison. Heres the difference: Rails is programmed on Ruby. Rails in itself is, to me, not that impressive. It does a lot of things right, but it does probably just as many wrong. Not the least of which is scaling

I find that with Rails especially you end up working with multiple files at once, in addition to wanting to have a rails console, and a browser visible at all times. I actually find myself in want of a third screen fairly often.

"they just don't seem well refined..." I'm not sure if you're talking about all degrees, or just CS... However, speaking specifically about CS, I believe that my lack of refinement comes not from lack of Computer Science courses, but from l

Thats awesome. If you sign up and rate the kind of stuff you used to like, as well as stuff you specifically don't like... the recommendation system should give you some decent suggestions. (If it doesn't, I suck.) They're not as good as

Yeah, I agree regarding the search results being confusing. It didn't turn out exactly as I wanted, but its on my ever-growing list of tasks to improve it.

Problem is that Ubuntu hasn't updated Firefox to 2.0.0.9 in the repositories yet.

Its really not as bad as you might guess. It takes some time up front to go through each model and tell it what the actual table name is, what the actual primary key is, and etc. Once that is complete though, its pretty much Rails business

This might get a rise out of some people, but I believe that DHH is completely out of place in that list of hackers, and his response to the question about mathematics makes it painfully obvious. So many things he says make me ashamed to ad

Definitely. I'm not bashing Gates for saying it. In the context he was dead on. But the author of the article seems to still push it as truth. Could just be my perception though, because he doesn't explicitly say it.

The author makes some good points (Jobs is a tool for snubbing the interview, the price cut was well planned, and the reasoning behind the price cut, etc)... But, I think he's off the mark on some things: "In the mind of Steve Jobs the enti

Right. I think the poster is missing half of the equation. I know lots of people who work really hard at what they do. But what they do just keeps the afloat, so they can go back in the next day and work really hard again. The other part

To the contrary, what angered me ( yeah yeah, I also didn't realize it was a parody ) was the over generalization and the possibility that someone actually thinks like this. That being said, I could see the statements being true to an exten

To counter your argument... I'd say that the new breed of millitant Rubyists has emerged from Rails, rather than the other way around. That being said, however, the seemingly constant attacks by every person who takes it for a spin and does

I don't understand the constant attacks on Rails documentation. There are very few things that I can't find in the documentation provided. Not to mention, if you have a solid knowledge of Ruby, the Rails code itself makes for pretty good
