I’ve thought this as well. There is a lot of disagreement within political parties. Given the polarization, I’d wager this is more true today. You may be stuck with extreme people you disagree with despite leaning one way or another. You ju

You know I’ve generally thought it’s is true. You WILL get caught. Then I wonder if the government knows who Satoshi is. I know he didn’t kill someone but I wonder if the resources exist to figure it out if they truly wanted.

The code becomes hard to read. You might need to change int health to float health. In that case “health” properly describes the idea. We’d change this to int DEPRECATED_health and float health. Folks can argue that’s ugly but I’ve not seen

There’s a dead comment by oldpersonintx which is a bit negative. I can’t comment on it but I want to reiterate the argument with more positivity because I believe there is a kernel of truth. At least part of the decline of US education has

I think sentiment is low on EV due to Trump AND Musk. Trump got onboard with the red folks dislike of EVs early on. Musk had his work cut out for him though. He built a brand beloved by blues all to flip it on its head and make them despise

Yeah, I’d probably say something more like, “we leverage protobuf built ins to make a slightly more advanced back compat system” We do rename deprecated fields and often give new fields their names. We rely on the field number to make that

I feel like web design animations are more similar to PowerPoint than folks want to admit. What I mean by that is that quick cross-fades can be used 99% of the time to tidy the look of UI but you rarely need to do anything beyond that.

We use protocol buffers on a game and we use the back compat stuff all the time. We include a version number with each release of the game. If we change a proto we add new fields and deprecate old ones and increment the version. We use the

I don’t think all analytics are evil. There’s a spectrum. Those old number of visitors stamps were fun and harmless. On the other end of the spectrum we have megacorps connecting services and building shadow profiles of people. There’s a lo

What did they do with that money? They just raised it last year. I feel like this goes outside of just being a bad economy. Edit: they were giving hundreds of dollars of product away for free. I found a link to a previous article. https:&#

I feel like we’re in an era of dark monetization patterns. This “whale” monetization reminds me of online advertising where if you aren’t paying you’re the product. It isn’t quite the same but it’s something like, “if you aren’t paying, you

I agree with Hanlon’s Razor to some extent but it does fail to provide accountability, “they aren’t cruel, just incompetent so the behavior is okay.”

Something feels off about the whole thing. I find the article to be extremely low information and extremely hyperbolic. It feels like keyword soup.

It’s interesting to me this doesn’t self correct. I’d love to know if someone can explain why. E.g. presumably companies can pay people more if they capture less value themselves. Why can’t a company do that and just hire the best talent?
