Whenever I’ve read an article about someone who developed psychological disorders in the presence of AI, they had one of these long chats. It’s made me want a long chat just to understand whether there’s something meaningfully different abo

That’s funny, I found the post high quality and interesting despite agreeing with your point about the title.

Wow, their compression algorithm sounds interesting. > When the Rewind app came out in 2022, it made quite a splash, thanks to the company’s “mind-boggling compression” system, which could transform more than 10GB of recorded data into a

I’ve also seen a similar phenomenon where I really want to try Y and people just keep telling me a different way to do X that I’ve already tried.

I mostly agree. I prefer vanilla CSS to frameworks but I find a lot of value in CSS modules. In particular I use: 1. The `composes` feature to do something like base classes. 2. The import feature to get something like namespacing. Given th

I don’t think the underlying point is true: big companies don’t necessarily write bad code. A big company is like a collection of small companies. Code quality varies depending on where you are in it. Similarly, nothing leads me to believe

I like the closing: > The transition from deterministic systems to probabilistic agents is uncomfortable. It requires us to trade certainty for semantic flexibility. We no longer know and own the exact execution path. We effectively hand

This reasoning is not flowing through for me. It feels like you are saying: 1. There is an off ramp for TRTs but some people have, “true permanently lowered levels of hormones.” 2. For GLP-1s, “there is no off-ramp, but the only effects I’v

Interesting. Saying, "there may not be a safe off-ramp," doesn’t feel quite right. The article describes people losing weight while on the drugs and then regaining weight after stopping them. That's not ideal, but it does imp

I don't understand why this is getting downvoted. As another response mentioned, we wouldn't tolerate this in any other industry. If a restaurant served food that harmed people we wouldn't say, "it's on the parents.

I've been interested in making some 3D web games. After a review of some of the available engines I stumbled across Babylon. This seems like a bit of a hidden gem and it's used by a few real-world projects like Xbox Design Lab ( h

I had Turn It In mark my work as plagiarism some years ago and I had to fight for it. It was clear the teacher wasn’t doing their job and blindly following the tool. What happened is that I did a Q&A worksheet but in each section of my

I don't think that's true. We have thousands of years of experience. Not everything needs the perfect study taken in the perfect lab conditions for folks to make conclusions which are useful for operating in the real world.

Agreed, I haven’t seen this in my career at least. I’ve worked with contractors on a yearly basis who would take some time off and then hit the ground running. If there’s any data supporting the opposite, I’d love to see it.

I'm annoyed that this submission's title was changed. This was first submitted with the original title, "Rust is a disappointment," and got flagged. It looks like it's been unflagged and the title has been changed.
