(adventure games aficionado here) I've played all King's Quest and Space Quest titles. Though I played and enjoyed "Love for Sail", I never tried the older titles of Leisure Suit Larry. Now I'll give it a try :)

JavaScript supports dynamic typing , functional programming and prototypal inheritance . IMO, these are great tools for creating games!

You could use a 3D software to render beautiful images and then with that images as a visual guide you can create icons, ie in Photoshop, by using layers and vectors.
