The thing is, he didn't when the iPod came out. There were a million other MP3 players; the market was well saturated and everyone had their favorite which was not an apple product. Nobody was waiting in line.

I think "A variable name's length should be directly proportional to the size of its scope" is a healthy mantra. As other comments have pointed out: in anonymous functions and other obvious contexts, short variable names are often more clea

Wow, this is pretty cool! Could you give a few more examples to get a feel for what kind of results you get (and inputs you can give)?

I wrote a nice long response to this, but HN apparently ate my comment :-(. Here's a second try. > can someone explain what the advantage of a tiling wm is? here people talk about not using the mouse, but i don't use the mouse with kde

What kind of performance benchmarks are you looking for? There used to be some memory leaks in xpyb (the X interface qtile uses), but 1.3.1 addresses most of those I believe. Other than that, I'm not sure anyone has ever reported any perfor

Hmm, ok. I guess I hadn't even really considered that this was a mistake people would make. Thanks for the input!

That's a good point - you can script saving/restoring your windows, do your xrandr stuff, and restart qtile and it should work just fine. Admittedly not ideal, though.

I can comment to say that nobody has really looked at it, so it's unfortunately probably still broken :-(. Patches are definitely welcome, though!

Sure, but there's no reason you can't offer a non-monthly plan at the true operating cost * 1.(your markup). It might be slightly (or vastly) more expensive per request than the monthly plan, but guys like me would still buy 20 or 30, inste

Hi, looks like an interesting service! I've already sent it to a bunch of my friends who I think can get a lot of value out of it. Unfortunately, I don't think I could extract $25/mo out of the service myself. Do you have any plans for alte

Hi craigc, I'd be interested in using this, but (and yeah, this is terrible) I need some sort of "scoping", i.e. hotkeys would dispatch differently based on what element is highlighted. I realize I could achieve this by making my bound func

I was afraid of this too, so I just bought an unfinished door from home depot (for $22 oddly enough), and some crappy filing cabinets from the local university that were the right height. Set door on filing cabinets => done. I could bol

It's a bad question, though. Either you know the answer, or the peephole optimizer will do a better job than you will, and therefore you should use what's most readable. I agree with GP that these kinds of questions are unfortunate noise at
