In practice it works pretty well. I am nearing completion of a rewrite of X's XCB-based python bindings in cffi, and it has worked out quite nicely.

I don't really think this is a problem, though. The point of bitcoin is not to distrupt businesses, it is to disrupt traditional currencies. That traditional businesses are accepting it is a sign of good, not bad.

I suppose it isn't obvious from the rule I gave, but it doesn't necessarily have to even be web accessible. Why does it matter so much anyway?

No, e.g. I use this rule in my .htaccess on my blog: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^.*\.html$ RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*)$ %{REQUEST_FILENAME}.html

ADVAPI.DLL is a microsoft thing. It's not a crypto standards thing, so my point still stands. (Restated: it is easier to attack implementations than standards.)

Don't be ridiculous. Most crypto algorithms that back major standards today have been approved by the NSA, and to date no backdoors have been found. For example, the change to NSA suggested for DES s-boxes _strengthened_ the standard.

I doubt it. Why wouldn't github want to pay more so that black hats also sell them bugs? Indeed, these are the very bugs that are going to be exploited, so it makes perfect sense for them to pay whatever it costs. The real reason is pr

Of course it does, and I never said it didn't. I just said that my impression is that the primary motivation of language people is correctness. However, I have published several in the area of software verification, so perhaps I am bia

Presumably he means efficiency in terms on monetary cost. Producing 1 BTU via electricity is about twice as expensive as producing 1 BTU via natural gas. In places like Norway, they're almost certainly using natural gas, so this is a r

Adding another one to the list, I am the maintainer of Qtile, a tiling WM written and configured in python. We've even got an ubuntu ppa, so we're only an apt-get install away :-). http://qtile.org

The coin is issued by a central entity who has kept 50% of it. This makes people suspicious. Bitcoin has no central issuing entity, thus no one person to 'get rich quick' in some scam type operation.

While I agree that a functional implementation of something usually copies more, it's a little disingenuous to say that most algorithms return a "fresh copy" of a structure. Most of the collections in most of the functional r

Nah, no issues with naming, mine was just a pet project to pick up a bit of haskell. R.E. uniting forces, yeah! I looked through your code a bit, and it looks like we have the same underlying idea (yours seems a bit less convoluted than min

Ah, yeah, I guess I wasn't thinking about the money aspect at all, just that you're sort of robbing yourself of the complete MS experience if you don't do an in-person one.
