C# is in a similar position, classes aren't final by default but their methods are.

I think that depends on the code base, I agree with your points for more procedural code bases, but for functional or OO code you should be able to test most of your logic without mocks or wiring too much up.

They specifically only hire seniors, they don't want to provide positions for juniors as they would prefer to pay more for more seniors than pay indirectly for training juniors. I think this reflects poorly on them, just as much as com

I was originally very happy to hear pattern matching was coming to C#, but I don't think it is actually that useful a feature without discriminated unions/sum types too.

They are aware of this, the goal is to have a large market share when self driving cars make their business model profitable. This may not work, but that in no way makes Uber a Ponzi scheme.

I think the latter manager is a somewhat common example of a poor engineer who escapes engineering by moving to management, but then also makes a poor product/people manager to. Not that you have to be good at one to be good at the ot

Optimizing C++ code is enough of a niche requirement nowadays that it is totally reasonable for you have to train junior devs in this area rather than hiring them ready to go. If you don't want to train them, pay the price for an exper

The interesting thing to me about the FP vs OO discussion that your link highlights very well is that one of the major benefits of FP languages is the expressive type systems that, at least the oo languages I've seen completely lack. I
