Why don't they replace Finder with something that works at least on par with Explorer from Windows 95? Adding "move/cut" feature in 2009 will be a huge step forward. Or make iPhoto actually usable, so it will see and recognize JPEGs on your

To be honest "There’s no glamorous future for Mailmanagr, as well." pretty much sums up this article. It may be a good product, but its aim is not to be a high growth start-up and technically its just a component to an existing app. What?

It's not. Not easy - have you done anything else besides web development? VB6 is a far better tool for what you are saying. Just because 99% of people here dream of becoming .com-millionaires doesn't automatically turn these fashionable "

This will only teach them how ugly hacks were made, not how proper software should be. Even now, when we have strict HTML and CSS2 and some decent browsers, I still get chills sometimes at how fugly this whole "web-development" is... These

How about taking 60% of existing military budget and allocating that towards health care? How about forcing hospitals to buy directly from manufacturers avoiding multi-tier nets of middlemen? I am not even talking about private medical insu

WTF is "consulting" without development? What are you "consulting" them with? "Buy some computers and hire some programmers"? I can't comprehend your post, I'm sorry.

Flash sucks balls because it only works well where Adobe wants it to work well , as opposed to openly accepted standards like HTML/CSS that work good enough on nearly every computer in operation.

While I am generally very skeptical of half-assed reimplementations of existing tools with a stamp "now in the browser!!!", 280 was probably the first case when I said to myself "this is damn nice!" Very well done. So much different from th

How can you cram your programming (i.e. creation process) into pre-defined hours every day? It's like saying "I am funny from 8 to 12, then I get creative from 1pm to 5pm and I get 'Eureka' moment usually around 7pm" I am honestly jealous.

This industry is loaded with cash, they're transitioning from traditional analog video to IP-centric solutions and have no expertise. They all are looking for good software companies to buy. Drop me a line if you have a demo or something,

Matt, you're confusing IP with copyrights. I've dealt with IP lawyers in the past, and those two terms mean very different things. Copyright law is actually a very murky water and certain kind of fish (lawyers) feel pretty comfortable swimm

Most folks don't realize, but desktop Linux has surpassed Windows and OSX in convenience, features and usability. Sure it still lacks some critical desktop applications and high quality UI design to truly shine. I've been alternating betw

Funny how things change. In mid 90s people were praising Microsoft for being so incredibly nice to developers: MSDN and Visual C++ were bargains compared to ridiculous amounts of license fees IBM wanted to for OS/2 development tools and (!)

I believe the effect of MagLev will be marginal. Gemstone/S is charging $7K/year and it's not the best license they've got. This isn't going to fly in 2008: I like those guys and I am sure they'll find enough banks and airlines to sell this

I didn't said it was. I just find it funny how history repeats itself: when I was a kid, doing something like this was a fun challenge, since most computers worked in text mode 80x25 characters, and after a while an application like that be
