What is the bull case for a Cloud-based quantum computing offer? Are there really billions of dollars of workloads out there that have any realistic chance of migrating to IBM quantum tech within a decade? Two decades?

I think text vs. link used to be XOR, but isn’t any longer. It’s still outside the hn mainstream to use both in the same submission, so that might be biasing the model in strange ways.

Coming from a position of extreme Rust ignorance & C++ brain poisoning: Here’s the issue: waiting_for_elements is a Vec<Waker>. The channel cannot know how many tasks are blocked, so we can’t use a fixed-size array. Using a Vec m

Kaiser’s effectively an HMO, right? Consumers (i.e. employees evaluating their corporate benefits) hated HMO’s at their peak in the ’90’s so much that the initials became politically toxic. Cheaper plans with more restrictions could exist

Stay for the end and the hilarious idea that OpenAI’s board could declare one day that they’ve created AGI simply to weasel out of their contract with Microsoft.

There’s a somewhat heterodox theory that rather than some kind of AI moonshot, the Fifth Generation project was an attempt to build an alternative interaction model to Latin alphabet keyboards feeding teletypes. The idea (supposedly) was th

Having the capacity to hold & deliver live warheads doesn’t mean it’s exercising that capability today. Anyway this is all incredibly speculative. Nobody knows the real strategic purposes of this thing.

Without a deeper analysis, that’s an argument to scuttle our missile subs, too. I mean, it’s an argument to be had, but the advantages of a dominant multi-modal nuclear arsenal go beyond binary assurance of mutual destruction in total war—

It would be another leg in the triad—presumably obsoleting strategic bombers for most potential scenarios. All the legs have trade-offs, which is why you want more than one: Silos are immobile. Bombers are slow, limited-range and vulnerable

Slack seems to be getting off too easy here. The security—as implemented by Fortune 500 customers??—of an org-wide security domain (i.e. what everyone in an org can see) depends on whether any of the supported OAuth providers can be tricked

You don’t elect a lot of the people with power, either. My point is we worry a lot about outliers in a wealth distribution but not the outliers in a power distribution (some people, of course, being outliers in both!) And that seems misguid
