To me the difference is I signed up with Facebook, even though I rarely use it any more. I created a Gmail account, and I use Google for searches. All of those were options presented to me, with alternatives - there are other ways to stay i

Right what the parent comment is saying is that look at a map of the US, how many major cities are there. The odds of two "1 in 500 year" floods happening consecutively are low for any individual city. But if you have enough citie

You've drawn a false dichotomy between the current situation and an unrealistic scenario. The truth is there could be more growth and room for more people without it being room for literally everyone.

That's a preposterous and intellectually dishonest position to hold. If there's so much money on the table go raise your own fund and get wildly rich on all these ideas the sheep won't touch. Or admit that deeds are harder th

No one is saying the SEC exists to prevent Floyd from saying what he wants to say. The SEC exists to protect less informed investors from being influenced by what Floyd says. That's why they have rules about disclosures and/or acc

Backend Python guy with no dog in this fight. Wouldn't that also be the case if, for example, React/Angular were demonstrably superior technologies to the alternatives? groupthink doesn't have to be the only explanation.

Also a generalized statistical result doesn't really apply to an individual. Maybe verbatim note taking is inferior for 98% of people. Doesn't mean you shouldn't do it if it works for you.
