I don't have any issue on the aesthetics as these are subjective. On any point on the spectrum of utilitarian and flamboyant you win/lose some audience effect. The trick is to rest on the spot where your target audience's visual preference

Its fairly early when you compare the install base of the dumbphones vs. the smartphone. (1.4 billion vs. 450million) but i agree that late 2012 will be where the window for 2nd/3rd places will be locked up until the next big disruption.

My best hack around this is commuting instead of driving a car and doing something mindless like cleaning the house or laundry after being stumped by a problem. Its in these times that ideas & solutions get formed or destroyed.

There is always hope for Microsoft based on the following points. 1. Its early days for the smartphone market. 2. Nokia+Wp7 has a good chance of not flopping due to Nokia's reach, relationships and repeat customer base in countries outside

I think this increases the possibility of something like Square being built into the next iDevice with Apple buying Square first. If Square doesn't sell, then expect Jobs to build his own.

We love their image editor widget but need something faster (it understandably lags when sending images to their server). Aviary has promised to offer the source code 'soon' but the problem is they said that last December. Here is to hoping
