Does anything have an evolutionary "purpose"? I mean really. Why, really, is the human tailbone less "purposeful" than our hair?

I think you underestimate how adaptable humanity is, and how much desire it has to survive. If it turns out that there are huge negative effects a few generations down the line, I really doubt that humanity (which is naive on an individual

Sure, but at least that's a choice. When I was a kid and heard "enjoy it while it lasts" I imagined being an adult as being chained under some big rock called "responsibility". But it really isn't. If you'

Manipulation is the game they're playing, that is the whole market. Fuzz your eyes to abstract the details of the art pieces and only look at the social structure around it, and that's all the information you need to predict dem

Yes, it's a lot. But imagine the opposite. Imagine nothing new came out, and everything just stagnated. Evolution, experimentation, testing things out, this is a good thing.

You're confusing linear regression and least squares. (They're connected but not identical in that way.) Least squares gives the closest orthagonal (perpendicular) projection onto the range of the matrix. The slide is correct.

It's way more fun to know how to derive least squares than to memorize some formula: https://see.stanford.edu/materials/lsoeldsee263/05-ls.pdf (page 4)

I don't see how a jobless steady state is compatible with the zero-sum game that is the natural desire, in all of us, for power and sex.
