Always enjoyed his interviews and his style. I happened to just watched a very short clip of him talking about his fear of death with Norm Macdonald last night. Guess we all have to face that moment, and even though he had a long and succ

Sorry, I didn't do a great job explaining what I meant. Really just comes down to having each link on the multi-link page listed with a number beside its title. --- Typically[1] i'll put numbers inline[2] for each reference I mak

This is such a great idea. So much nicer to include a single link at the bottom of a comment for all mentioned references. For that usage it might be nice to be able to refer to each link as say [1], [2], [3] and have those numbers also sh

My argument is that people should have more reasonable expectations from a free project. That it is unreasonable for a free project that is shutting down to continue to operate until all EOL's are reached, especially til 2029. It

Yes, I can understand being upset about it, but think such anger should be tempered by no fee being paid and no contractual obligation being breeched. It seems to me if you're in a situation where you truly depend on such a commitment

But since we aren't entitled to any free product at all, it seems unkind to criticize someone for not giving as much for free as they once did. It's still generous, even if previously it was more so.

Honestly these seem like pretty generous and useful offerings. I appreciate the commitment they make to not use them as a sales channel as well. Will be interesting to see what else is offered in the coming February announcement.

While that's true, the issue being addressed is if the current vaccines would help at all even if we could deploy them instantly. It honestly seems like an open question, although apparently people are hopeful it'll work out that

That's not very reassuring, why is the new strain causing any problems at all if it behaves exactly like the existing strain? And if they haven't actually done any trials or testing, then they haven't really looked for any e

That's really not the point. Regardless, for some rich people those treatments _are_ available. And that may well lead them to the completely rational choice of avoiding the risks associated with a vaccine. Everyone is different, and c

It's not just age range, it's individual health, down to the specific person, not a group. Also you have to multiply the risk by the chance that you will actually contract Covid-19, which is very dependent on lifestyle etc. I

0.5-1.0% chance to die from COVID-19 assumes an even distribution across all people infected. Which just isn't true, it very much depends on your current state of health. And again, my main point is that we should be honest about the

Please don't set up strawmen just to knock them down. It's too easy to cast everyone who has some rational scepticism as nutjob's, but that just alienates those who could otherwise be persuaded by civil discourse.

The vaccine is not field tested, so there is a risk in the unknown. The Canadian government at least is warning that some people may have an allergic reaction and are creating a tracking database to find out who is most at risk to such. A
