Great examples! We may have been doing it, but didn't have a name for it. More names is useful because when people say "prototype" or "PoC" they can mean many things.

I suppose it's best to start with 1 or 3 months of 100% foraged food like they are doing. If that works, later experiments can find out whether less than 100% is enough.

I wonder what the result looks like if you test people who eat produce from a home garden or if it's typically not enough to make a difference and you'd have to live outdoors. Similarly, people still eat significant amounts of for

Seems easy and clear: they introduce a keyword "fip" that you use to mark a function as being fully in-place, and they statically check it.

Constant folding means you calculate the result of an expression at compile time. In-place updating means you re-use the memory location of an earlier variable that's not needed anymore. Simple example in pseudo-C: BigInt increment

You're correct in part, as both image sources (the picture and the video) have maxed out pixel data. If it's HDR10, it does not have 24 but 30 bits of color though, so it maxes out at #3fffffff.

Interestingly, the features of Emacs, Vim and VSCode are largely orthogonal (on top of any basic text editor). Further, a lot of people advocate using CLI instead of most VSCode features. Waiting for the holy grail, you can still learn from
