This really looks great. The doc and play views alone would be fabulous as I'm trying to learn clojure. Seems like an incredible sandbox environment for learning the language and exploring open source to understand how things are working.

Yeah, I see how that could be an issue. How is it handled now, though? If government approves a project to improve [community service here] for $X, and the project goes over, what happens? Does the contractor have to eat it? Does governmen

Couldn't this be addressed by requiring all spending bills to have their funding built in? ie, the bill must include what they are proposing to spend, and where the funding will come from (tax hike). This would also help people understand

I think the parent's point was, that is the case -now-. But that could change with one new release of Amazon's steaming service. Previously, even if Amazon released a new offering, the mailing service added an additional incentive to stay

I agree. The point of the original statement was just to show that you should be compiling to javascript, not writing javascript. This article is technically right, the original comparison isn't perfect, but it is really splitting it fine

How bad is the relationship already? Personally, I wouldn't burn a bridge with a client who could either return later or pass along some word of mouth, for $1200. If the relationship is already spoiled to the point that you don't think eit

Google supplies the tools for the newspaper to have marked explicitly, using technology, the pages they want included/excluded from search, with no ambiguity. Instead, they chose to use vague, court language, with threat of a fine per link

It is a different thing to personally perform an act than to simply know, logically, that it is being performed on your behalf. It makes act more real, more personal, more identifiable. Knowing that someone killed a goat at some point is no

Yes, you missed the deal, but because it was available only on release day (5/23) at the discounted price, not because of your location.

This was helpful. I've looked at AWS before briefly, but this helped me understand the process better. This seems like a good set up for server to server API requests. One question I still have is how to most safely query such an api from a

Why do people get hung up on wording? It is a shame people are just going to dismiss this because he worded it as "open". In reality, what he is saying is that the iPad is more useful than a regular computer, and usefulness trumps openness

Maybe at the exact moment, but generally look at pictures later to spark memories of places they were and things they did. The people who are around when the picture is taken are therefore most likely to want to see it again later. I guess

The fact that google has the same idea doesn't mean that you can't make an offering in the same area, it just means that you need to compete in ways that are hard for them. Ie, I think their service and API looks great, but I am totally tu

Diffmerge from sourcegear is free and runs natively on os x (in addition to win and Linux) and does 3 panel merges, as well as folder diffs pretty well.

While I understand your point - businesses should act in ways that benefit themselves. I think that is simply a recipe for a business to succeed, but it is a short-sighted one. I think the guideline which Google is putting out is better f

That seems counter intuitive to me. With JS templating, you are sending all the page structure, data, and markers as to how to insert the data into the structure. Without, you are just sending the structure and data. Assuming you are gzi

http://planet.clojure.in is a nice start. I have no idea who actually maintains the list, i.e. is it 'official' or not, and it doesn't include voting, but it is a nice stream of clojure news.

To be fair: If he were capable of leading one giant tech company, he is a candidate to run another. HP stock went up something like 130% the first couple years he was there, and tracked better than the nasdaq for the rest of his time there.

I have a similar setup. Add anything I am interested in to Google Reader, consume via Reeder on iPhone/iPad, or consume via Feedly if using a browser. Reeder and Feedly both rock, but the key is eliminating low signal to noise sources.
