I really like the Gnome UX, so it can't be "universally hated". I'm gonna assume most devs and users like it as well (otherwise they would use and/or develop something else).

"And suddenly you had to use touch gestures with mouse, .." I have used Gnome 3 since it was available in Fedora and I have never used any mouse touch gestures.

Yeah, if you want a make a point you can just invent/hallucinate what other people (like Gnome devs devs) say.

Yeah, especially as the two different buttons get highlighted separately and has different tooltips as you hover over them.

"Have they fixed the save dialog box yet? .... Anyway, I’m not going to install gnome to find out." Then why do you care?

"On Debian the users have to set everything up.” — this sentiment is directly parallel to how BSDs see themselves as providing a whole consistent operating system, Linux meanwhile just wants to ship a kernel." Linux is just an OS

Yes, solar power won't work in Svalbard winters. This is known.

TFA claims that it is idiotic to put solar panels on residential roofs, but them somewhere where installation cost are low instead, like on the ground or maybe factory roofs.

Batteries are the solution. The sun is pretty stable (not very firm unfortunately, but I don't see how that relates to electricity).

Another issue is that ocean water becomes very usable since it becomes so cheap to remove the salt from it. It won't be long before the most productive food producers will be in desert regions that have access to the sea (like Australi

We'll see about that. If you need an api you will be pretty limited versus that you can do about anything for Gnome Shell Extensions.

Isn't that what you can do in Gnome/GTK4/Adwaita as well?

Can you do the equivalent change in functionality that is possible with Gnome Shell extensions?

If you theme apps without testing there is always the change that you break apps with complex or custom widgets. It is kind of sad seeing your app looking and behaving like crap due to some random them that the distro apply to all GTK-based

I totally felt that! My kids almost never got sick in daycare (1-2 days per year), but especially the first year I felt like I had a cold most of the time. But it improved later years.

If you want to work on xorg, you can. If you want to work on Wayland, you can do that as well. Almost all people choose the latter.

People mostly don't care about the composers/producers of modern pop music. But if you want to find out it is really easy on all music platforms (Spotify, Youtube music etc). Being a performer and a composer is a very different sk

In music it has been the standard for hundreds of years that the composer of the music is not the one performing it. And actors don't write or direct or shoot movies either.

Most devs in Sweden would be very happy to get US wages so this feels pretty much like bullshit. Also, Spotify could open offices in other places in Sweden (or Europe) if they want to be in places with lower CoL than Stockholm.

If you have electricity and water you can make H2 gas. Storing it is quite costly, so you probably want to make it on demand (like the Hybrit project will do).

Yeah, but as he says in the video it doesn't really make sense if you are not on the same pixel grid. It is kind of implicit in the design on pixel fonts.

Pixel fonts make sense if you have a low or fixed resolution screen, but doesn't really work with the devices we have today. Also, CRTs have other properties which make them awesome, but that is another story.
