This is a bug, you occasionally get this on certain types of attached volumes (some large USB drives) and nfs/smb/webdav mounts. Sorry, buddy.

It's the same keyboard as previous versions of OS X. The UI DPI is just scaled up (you can do that in Leopard, too).

Why is the original author unable to differentiate nationality and race? Oh, because he's an idiot. Inflammatory linkbait.

I'm not a CL guy so I don't know how defsetf actually works, but I skipped down in that link to where that Lisp macro is, and if defsetf works like he describes (and I don't know if it does), then (setf (f1 arg1) arg2) will cause a

Yeah, the author is mistaken. Services haven't just always been in OS X, they were even in Nextstep. Main difference in Snow Leopard is that they're also in a right-click menu now, instead of in the menu bar at the top.

That is a pretty awesome idea. GitHub/Launchpadish but the actual repositories are hosted externally? Hell yeah. Has someone tried this already?

I would reply again, but you have missed points made by the speaker, especially those in the context of OCaml. Please watch and make an effort at understanding before any offhanded dismissals.

Try to think it through. First of all, they cannot increase the latency of their software; in fact, as is explained in the presentation, they work hard to keep it as low as possible and to continue to lower it. An extra layer which must mon

Did you really watch it? He explains that at the speed and volume with which they handle transactions, an error could cause them to disintegrate in a handful of milliseconds. Besides – why write more code to check if your original code is c

I always thought Smalltalk seemed like a closer match to JS than Scheme, if you got rid of first-class message passing. How much overhead is there? For example in Objective-J in reasonably tight loops, I usually try to avoid message passing

I hate you! I was looking for a Smalltalk->Javascript thing before I started my current project, but I couldn't find one other than st2js. Arrrgghhhhhhafuhoasdf asdfiojafdiojafdsooijfa Anyway, thanks, this is awesome.

flapjax seemed cool, but I really just can't stand writing with JS syntax and all the baggage that comes with it. my current JS project (actually objective-j with cappuccino) is weighing in at over 5000 semicolons, 80% of which is probably

Shining example of another person who has failed to understand IRC (asynchronous messaging with spanning-tree delivery.) I like all of the wordings he has made up for things that have been around for 15+ years. Making a good messaging syst

I think that's what he was implying. As in, TCO is a major decision that goes into a language design, not just some sprinkling of compiler optimizations, usually.

You can have SMS blocked, but you have to call them and request it specifically. I believe the salespeople try to frighten you into getting one, warning you of the dangers of receiving an SMS without a plan.
