Yeah, I'm familiar with the pattern, but I wouldn't say that this is a 'stateless' pattern because even having that object is 'state'. I don't think 'stateless' makes sense if objects are involve

Yeah that is what I was trying to clarify, I guess my comment was equally confusing because I am getting responses trying to fill in words that the OP may or may not have left out accidentally

Can you point me to a language or some code snippets with objects with no state --- in my head this just comes back to some sort of namespace for static functions. At that point, you need no object, so what's the point of having one. I

I agree with a lot of those suggestions, but I am still scratching my head at what it means to have "objects with no state", at that point it seems like we just have static methods that are in some namespace which is the object. H

RE 2 do you mean you don't need to have mutable state to have objects? Unless I have a huge misunderstanding of what you mean by 'state', it seems like state is necessary for objects to exist..

Yeah, this. I worked on a project that used an older version of Java, and had older versions of dependencies, and never updates because there was 'no reason'... until we hit a really nasty perf bug that was fixed in a newer versio

I had used ET For a few weeks and it worked great except for when it didn't. I can't blame ET for sure, but I had some nasty problems with my ET crashing, having to SSH back in and fix ET, and realizing that it blew up my tmux wit

Yet it seems like large companies mostly prefer monorepos, so while it takes investment to have such a monorepo, it seems the benefits are worth the investment.

As an employee working on a corporate device everything will be tracked anyways, this is the most tin-foil take ever. Your latter concern is at least a reasonable one, but it should all be open source anyways? Not that any of us have the ti
