HTML as rendered in browsers is the target. Aliases are one thing. Not matching up to the target after rendering is quite another.

Yet another reason to dislike JSX apparently: its parser deviates from the HTML5 spec. And at this point JSX is so well established (ossified?), fixing it would break countless sites when upgrading.

Alternatively you can use things like Postgraphile or Hasura and truly eliminate both N+1 and 1+1. CTEs and JOINs really are underrated. Both solutions allow easy review of the SQL they generate, they do all of the CRUD work for you, and ne

I like this quote. Forgot where I first heard it. Threads are for working in parallel, async is for waiting in parallel. If your app is doing the work, use threads. If something else is doing the work like a database engine or the

How exactly is individual mobility and autonomy enhanced on a weekday at 5pm on the 405 stuck in traffic for an hour or more? And then you have to park at either end of that commute. You can get from The Battery to Inwood Hill Park (opposit

The largest cities have the greatest need. Small towns that aren't high population centers aren't so strangled by traffic hopefully. And also hopefully are made to be more walkable and not spread out so unnecessarily. Rural areas

Public. Transit. Cars will always be a perpetually morphing problem whose repetitively common theme is "too few people moved per unit area". De-prioritize cars. Re-prioritize walkable, bikable, and train-accessible cities.

Here's a feature I desperately wanted a dozen years ago. Browser vendors kind of lost interest in improving their SVG support around that time. https://dev.w3.org/SVG/modules/vectoreffects/master/SVG

Excellent! We need more articles like this that demonstrate the subtleties of the relational model to primarily app-level developers. The explanations and explorations in terms of functional programming are both concise and compelling.

One thing (only thing?) I honestly miss about IE5.5-8 is how amenable the engine was to polyfilling. It wasn't fast, but you could do almost anything with the right polyfill technique. No sessionStorage? Use window.name. No (then-) mod
