Doesn't this sort of remove the need for secrecy and development that you were thinking about? Did they get there ahead of you because they didn't worry about the sorts of things you did?

The myspace suicide case really muddles this and makes it a problem. If the site you want to scrape from has TOS that say you can't re-use the info, (and it most likely would), then re-using the info would be a violation of the terms of ser

Well, there's the real world answer, and the legal answer. Not too sure about the legal answer, thats always murky. Some things are copyrighted, some aren't. You can't just take someone's story, or art, and use it on your own site without p

Um, will consumers buy it? Thats a problem you need to ask about. Didn't you say your target audeience is going to be there? Thats what market research is about, standing in front of someone and asking them, "would you buy this?" Usually, p

Yeah, sign up customers. If you need to do market research (and who doesn't) do it there, you have all sorts of potential customers in front of you. Ask them everything you need to know, refine your idea, rethink some of your older assumpti

App owners have incentive to add themselves to the database. Maybe an email announcing yourself to App owners would be less work than going through and adding them all yourself. It also is a sort of secondary press release and will get peop

How many people are working on it now? You say "we" in your comments. Is there a team involved, or is this a solo project. Either way, it looks great.

I'm afraid I'm with this guy. Assuming someone holds a view is a bad idea. The TC attitude is often a result of people not getting written up more than the viewpoint of the people at TechCrunch. It sounds like you didn't want to be written

I love how a simple post on HN can catch all these little things that make a big difference. Its really a great way to iron out the kinks. I'm very impressed with your response on all this stuff, moorage, its pretty amazing.

What about a Netflix style pop-up when you click on the stars, suggesting users leave comments, or write a full review? Clicking on full review takes you to a page where you answer in-depth questions (like have you bought this) and leave co

I second this. Is there a reason for needing to login when adding an app or review? I only say this because I saw an article today on getting rid of logins. What about just requiring a captcha?

To be honest, having the call-to-action to write a review separated from the main text doesn't help. Right now, you've put your ads in between where you learn about the app and where you find the review button. It almost completely ruins th
