I live in a country where such abuses are rare? They happen, sure, and are broadly covered when they do, but this distorts the perception of how often they happen, which is "not very often". I also don't commit crimes, so I r

I mean, is it a problem if that's what I believe? In practice I'm not even getting "tracked". No one is likely to be looking up my license plate and looking at my movements, because I don't do anything that would wa

The reason I'm skeptical of this, in this particular case, is because the data here isn't actually owned by the police/government (I think?), it's owned by Flock. A department can search the data for given attributes, bu

I don't think this is true. Do you have some sources for this?

Is it? I thought only searches of the database were available that way? Like, the history of queries, not the raw data. I don't think FOIA requests can be used to run your own searches of these databases.

Seems like you're more moving the goalposts away from your original, inaccurate, and highly sensational claim? Maybe don't make the blatantly false claim in the first place?

I don't think I understand this part. Why does the rate at which frames are rendered (by the GPU?) relate to the speed at which input is registered? [E] Ah, I think another comment [1] up in a different branch of this thread answered t

I don't understand how this works, I guess? If your screen is 60Hz, you're drawing four frames for every one that ends up getting displayed. You won't even see the other three, right? If you can't see the frames, what d

Out of curiosity, why are such high fps numbers desirable? Maybe I don't understand how displays work, but how does having fps > refresh rate work? Aren't many of those frames just wasted?

No, what you said is what's called "pseudo-profound bullshit". Sounds deep; has no actual meaning--nor any specific relationship with truth at all.

This is a wild take. I think the point of the parent comment was that those "values" have to be honest to be worth anything, not that they shouldn't exist at all.
