I once was doing unrelated work to politics, but Qwen3 said that my input had homonym characters to those in the name of Xi Jimping. It gave the strangest response twice before finally admitting the source of the error and allowing me to co

That’s true in order to truly change a society you have to no longer be an outsider, but that’s a level of entanglement that NGOs rarely do now adays. The ones that do it though are all religious institutions so their goals are more social&

I don’t think it’s AI. AI would at least keep the article body consistent with the title even if it had to bend over backward and hallucinate new facts.

I don’t know about you, but I have a family account that we use as an email recovery for kids. Adults have multiple emails so they won’t have to share it. If something takes out the family email account, that’s fine. The only thing going th

For most people, the critique of Japan is because their own countries used to operate jails in this way. So rationalizations of why it’s appropriate because the person was suspected of XYZ isn’t going to land with them and is largely irrele

I wrote a few of these due to an interest in compilers and hardware. The easiest syntax to copy if you’re looking for a high level language is Smalltalk. But most of the time, I wouldn’t even use that. Simple imperative languages that look

I picked 14 and 35 for good reason. Both have a higher chance of mortality in pregnancy as a cohort. Also 14 is relevant for the child marriage article, which is the current context. 18 year olds are not relevant to child marriage.

I also was curious about this so I did some research. It looks like age 20 to 34 has the lowest mortality rate. Older or younger than that has higher mortality. And since 14 to 18 as a cohort are all minors, it’s completely reasonable that

Argument by absurdity is a well known and to some well regarded rhetorical technique. It makes you at least agree that there is a line somewhere, and then you can go on to decide where to draw it.

Out of curiosity. What is your first/native language? In my country, english is hardly anyones first language, but its' mandatory in schools so I've never had the experience with having to find knowledge but its gate-kept beh

A non-deterministic layer seems like exactly what would need a competent, professional to ensure a good outcome, so it doesn't follow that LLM usage would depress wage more than high-level languages depressed wages by opening up prog

Home loans are secured by the asset (the home). It's comparable to stock, but it's a less liquid asset. Any broke person can afford a trillion dollar loan, if they can convince the bank that their house is worth 1.8 trillion dolla

From my point of view, they told the kernel security team which is in charge of fixing this. If it’s important for them to tell other people, then it should’ve been written down and further reiterated when they made their report. The skills

People aren’t comparing today to the ancient past. They’re by and large, comparing life to when they grew up. So on HN, that’s the 70s through the 90s. Since then maternal mortality in the USA has only increased. The reasons vary, but this

The reverse incentive is used by match makers. It works well for people seeking marriage since there is a legal endpoint to be reached that can’t be faked and is meant to be permanent.

The main advantage of json is that it’s human readable and writable. Beyond that, it has no notion of user created data types so anyone using it has to do custom unmarshalling to get a type apart from sting, number, dict and list.
