If you read any of the discussions in r/cscareerquestions you'd think you're a failure for not making $150k straight out of college.

I'm kinda of this thought process as well. If there are hospitable conditions there and we haven't found microbes after a while, I think we should just start dumping tons of them over there. We need something to put some atmospher

I'm mildly frustrated that this will be seen as a win by the MRA's. Yes, there was not sufficient evidence to back Pao's claims but anyone that has worked in an office environment with women present can attest to the fact tha

Yeah, I think its a vocal minority that is truly upset. The issue that compounds all of this is that it only takes a few thousand upvotes to reach the front page. So to extrapolate on your analogy, this is like the racist people in the corn

I for one would a little sanitization of the site. There are always going to be weirdos posting horrendous content on the internet but I'm not particularly inclined to deal with that trash. I'd love a Reddit this is only cat pics,

Seems pretty plausible that we could create an SSD that would power up on a timer then couldn't we? Am I missing something?

That changes a lot if your target market is big enterprise customers. Oh you don't support IE9? Well say goodbye to that market share.

You can definitely reload rifle ammunition at home very easily. You just need to collect the brass cases after you've shot store-bought rounds or just go to an outdoor range and collect buckets of brass cases since most people just lea

Exciting stuff. It feels really weird for someone to write a blog in which they discover that 95% of websites use minified JS though. I guess it's nice to see Microsoft making some progress but you have to wonder what's going on o

Maybe we need to have girl-branded thought-provoking toys in the meantime to deal with parents that force these stereotypes on their children. Princess model rockets and Frozen science kits.

I'm just reciting this from memory but I think spaceX launches are currently $50-100 million per launch. If they can achieve reusable rockets it'll be on the order of a few hundred thousand per launch though.

While it's possible to inject the dragon capsule anywhere and get it's orbit in line with the ISS, its much more economical to inject it really close to the ISS so they dont need to do as much work to finish the trip.

Networking at work is way more productive. I dont go to tech meetups very much anymore because I get annoyed at the "idea man" types that have no technical ability but want to find someone stupid enough to work for equity.
