Working in 49 countries is not the job of the CDC. They have a duty to exactly 1 country. Cutting the workload should help them stay focused on that 1 country. It really is crazy for a US government agency to be supporting 49 countries. I h

They signed up for email from all candidates, then assume that Trump didn't send any emails because nothing showed up. A more chilling possibility is that the email was simply deleted by Gmail, never even making it to the spam bucket.

I don't think "very normal" is what we should accept. In an emergency, flight attendants need strength and speed. They should look like decathlon winners.

Flight attendants should be able to rescue the 99th percentile passengers. This means carrying the passenger, unconscious or screaming, to the door of the aircraft and beyond. There may be rough ground or water. The passenger should be move

Humans enjoy pretending to be bots. It's a meme. This is a problem for the Turing test. Real humans sometimes want to appear non-human. Also, I've known real humans who were banned as bots. They tended to be people with strongly c

Roughly, that is 20 million jobs lost. (assume $50,000 each) Cutting $1 trillion is a change that affects 5% of GDP. This issue is part of why Obamacare kept the insurance companies. Killing jobs didn't go over well.

Fox didn't create the highly suspicious facts. What Fox does or doesn't report is not relevant. Also, anybody can sue anybody for anything, so that means nothing either. Here we have an email recently obtained via FOIA, from Peter

The gap is there in DC, which gets special federal funding. DC is spending over $30,000 per student. DC schools are so bad that you should wonder if excess funding somehow makes things worse.

Sweden and Germany are no longer homogeneous at all, and anyway isn't diversity supposed to be a strength? The specific example I gave, DC, simply destroys the argument that local funding is the problem. DC is very well-funded from nat

If education in the USA is underfunded, then education is underfunded in pretty much every country. The USA pays more per student than Japan, Sweden, Germany, and Korea. Look: https://nces.ed.gov/programs/coe/indic

Once GPS is destroyed, a great way to navigate would be via the laser reflectors that were left on the Moon. Many long-dead satellites also have them. You just need to receive an update on the orbit, which could come via VLF signals.

It is perfectly legal to ask, but that opens you up to accusations that you also discriminated. You no longer have the defense that you didn't know the information, and the court would want an explanation for why you were asking. It&#x

Normally that would depend on the architecture. For x86, you would get an exception. Of course the compiler could insert a check for 0 and a branch, avoiding the exception. For PowerPC and I believe most RISC, there is no exception. Most pr

SuperHornet, the F-18D and F-18E, was great. Basically the navy pretended to update the Hornet (F-18A, F-18B, F-18C) but actually built a completely new plane. Clearly it isn't the same, because the airframe is dramatically larger. The
