Sometimes "nobody doing it" is the correct answer. It might not be economically viable for the USA to grow strawberries. We can import strawberries or find something else to eat. In the long-term, automation may help. We can also

Colleges are not interested in that. Accreditation won't allow the required changes. Of course, accreditation is controlled by the existing members of the club; colleges don't want accreditation to allow radical change. Aside from

You can buy them new and they don't work. I've come to assume that the commonly available (typical retail store) CO detectors are a fraud.

Both methods are buggy, but the second is also needlessly complicated. The first possible bug is aliasing. The type of reg_name and DeviceControlAddress are not given, so it is possible there isn't a bug. The second bug relates to memo

Two others that look like bugs: 1. The CPU does a buffer overflow when reading the array of bits used to determine IO permission for instructions like "in" and "out". Every OS which supports the feature has to add an ext

Trouble is, C was that language. Lots of people came to depend on this. The world needs a language with this ability. The replacement is often "gcc with inline assembly" or "gcc with lots of __attribute__ extensions such as _

It mostly isn't legal, though gcc explicitly promises to support it and Microsoft's compiler doesn't even do the optimizations that would cause trouble.

I like tilling, but it requires lots of diesel fuel and it increases evaporation. The future is probably robotic weed picking. That still requires fuel, but perhaps not as much.

To some extent yes, but barely. Basing the budget on real estate value makes two incorrect assumptions: 1. city employees and contractors spend 100% of their money on real estate 2. city employees and contractors are immediately affected --

It is absurd that general change in the real estate market should change the tax revenue of the city. It doesn't naturally relate to the income of residents, the need for city services, or the cost to supply city services. When the tax

Neither site is ideal, even restricting choices to the USA. For polar orbit, obviously northern Alaska is proper. This minimizes the amount of east-west movement that must be cancelled out. For more typical orbits, being near the equator is

Normal bacon is out. You can get bacon without nitrites/nitrates. Watch out for hidden nitrates/nitrites though, for example "celery juice". Celery picks up lots of nitrites/nitrates from the fertilizer it is given.

This is .000018 inches off of the lake each day. Per year, it is .0066 inches. That is about 1/6 of a millimeter. At that rate, the lake contains 508198 years worth of water. Thinking in terms of human evolution here... that is a decen

One way to interpret this is to focus on the pay, and just how wonderful it is. The other way is to ask why they must pay so much? Alphabet must be a relatively awful place to work. Something is very wrong if they pay is this high.

Right, and I suspect the trouble is this: normal people often get their saturated fat from things like hot dogs cooked over a fire. If that sort of thing is the source (rather than coconuts and hard-boiled eggs), then it comes with harmful

It's fine if you work 4-day weeks. (36 to 44 hours) With a 5-day week, you're working 45 to 55 hours. That wears on you. It could be OK if the pay is unusually good.
