With its fixed supply and coins getting lost all the time, Bitcoin is deflationary, whereas Gold has a more or less constant supply (slightly growing every year). So emission wise, Bitcoin is not as similar to gold as a cryptocurrency with

Close, but not quite; it's combinatory logic plus introspection in a tree dress.

No, it's based on K and S, as is clear from the two rules (t (t) a) b -> a (1) (t (t a) b) c -> (a c) (b c) (2)

It's not based on a single combinator. It's based on the two standard basis combinators S and K, and a non-combinator that can inspect normalized terms to distinguish between degrees 0,1,and 2.

This weirdest thing has been a staple of entries in the IOCCC [1]. It is used not only to obfuscate, but also to save characters. For example, in this 1989 arbitrary length maze generator submission char*M,A,Z,E=40,J[40],T[40];main(C)

Can someone show what the most aerodynamic cars in the dataset look like? Does it specify the drag coefficient? Curious to know how many of the 8000 shapes reach < 2.0, should be at most a handful.

Lambda calculus is as pure as can be, and also has terms that don't normalize. That is not considered a side effect. A better example of impurity in Haskell for pragmatic's sake is the trace function, that can be used to print deb
