I love Rails, but I think it might be better for you to go with a PHP framework. PHP is just dead simple to get running and deploy. I would suggest something like Yii or Codeigniter, both of which are somewhat similar to Rails in their arch

Agree. Another benefit of having the site mainly static, with dynamic parts loaded over ajax is that it becomes much easier to apply efficient http-level caching.

Nice. Looks similar in design to the now defunct wallsome (Which used basecamp as the backend). Were you inspired by that?

That's clever - I hadn't thought of that. But then I suppose we could maintain a list of IP's of known trackers and block on that level.

I wonder if there are ways to legally insure against trolls. Say, a patent lawyer might open up an insurance. As a company, you pay a monthly fee of some amount (say $1000). If nothing happens, then money goes straight in that lawyers pocke

Curious. I'm not a native speaker, but I thought "bugger" could be used in that way. Not so?

I don't know anything about you, so what you say could be true, but the way you present it makes you sound rather delusional.

Nah, they endorse you by accident, most likely. Linkedin incessantly buggers its users with requests to endorse ones connections. You almost have to make an effort NOT to endorse, if you navigate the site.

Don't know where the OP is from, but that's more or less how it works in most of northern Europe.

I wonder how they define "device". Does my contact lenses count? Arguably they give me quite an advantage over not wearing them.

Well, in more forgiving languages, such as python, you are just implicitly being "hacky" as you put it. E.g. errors - if they ever occur - will happen in runtime. Java tries to move this to compile time, making them visible. It&#x

A bit late, but I wonder if any one knows of a reliable way to detect support for prefetch/prerender, without having to actually fire one off and see if it goes through?

I think that was the OP's point really. But you're right in that it has already happened with DRM - rootkits are just the natural next step in this direction.
