I think the whole "ideas are cheap" meme gets overblown a bit. There are certainly both good and bad ideas. But that's a bit missing the point really. The reason I won't sign an NDA is that it is a great liability at a v

When a star "dies", it goes through some phases, there one of them is that is grows really big. Planets would presumably be consumed in this process. In any case, a star doesn't disappear when it dies. It just ceases burning.

Bird sounds played at slow speed sounds incredible. Couldn't you just layer the natural bird sounds with some down-shifted ones?

I suspect it is exactly to prevent paperwork. Having two different tax-systems, depending on your employment status is going to be a huge mess.

On the other hand, a lot of developers have a tendency to dwell way too long on minutiae. The ability to just plow through and get something working is a good skill to have. As long as it's not the only tool in the box.

Very little server know-how, to be exact. All you need is an ssh account with each team members key added to `.ssh`

Berlin is a bit of a special case though. Living expenses are very low compared to other "rich" EU countries.

Without taking location into consideration, this is probably not going to be a very useful poll, I suspect.

Living expenses are presumably different though. So it's a bit hard to just compare salary directly.

Image support is a can of worms really. You quickly need to be able to browse a catalogue of images, with the ability to upload etc.

Really? I find that Ruby works fine on linux. In fact, I doubt anyone is using anything else for their production setup.

For balance, my previous venture hosted (still does) on RS London and we had good experience with them. The few times where we needed support, they were excellent.

Instead of a single hash, they could hold an array of hashes to test against. This array could then be added to as needed.

Thanks. I didn't consider that the mere act of having sshd deny attempts is a performance cost. I guess one could potentially dos a server by flooding the sshd with bogus attempts?

Maybe so. I wonder though, if it's cheaper to produce it synthetically and impossible to tell the difference in the final product, wouldn't those people who produce it now (out of greed) be very tempted to use the synthetic proces
