Wow. The classifier is really impressive. Will it be possible to train your own classifier on your service? I have a lot of clothing items that it would be useful to classify. I tried building my own with opencv, but I haven't had too

Seems like an interesting (and obvious) move for Amazon to go into domain registration. Maybe they can up the standard a bit for this industry.

Well, I don't know anything about C#, but I assume that Microsoft has some kind of official framework you can use. Otherwise I would suggest you go with Rails. It's not necessarily the be-all-end-all of frameworks, but it's d

True. But I would assume that the contract is largely a pay per usage or at least expected usage. So if they just make an estimate of how many Verizon customers they have and buy that block from someone else than Level 3. Then route all tha

One question: There aren't that many large edge providers around. What would Verizon do if Netflix signed a contract with a dozen of the larger ones and routed their streams through whichever had the best connectivity for a given endpo

You could always get hold of a card reader/writer and do it your self. The magstripe is essentially just a small capacity magnetic disk. You can read the information off and store it, then proceed to wipe it clean. If you want to resto

Don't mind the lack of math skills. For a lot of programming tasks they are completely irrelevant. I studied some CS and later history at uni and I always felt that the things I learned studying history has been more useful for me than

SQL Server is a great piece of software and it integrates very smoothly with other MS software. What I have done on more than one occasion, is to set up a nightly job that mirrors our main (MySql or Postgres) db to a small SQL Server. The f

Resource heavy? That's not the problem with ZF. The problem with ZF is that is was designed by committee. And it is built in a very class-centric style. Symfony also has a much larger community around it.

Considering that the API is you product, getting it documented should probably be you #1 priority. Even a rudimentary documentation, which you can then update later, would be better than none.

Further, since the computation is implemented in Javascript, it should be possible for a spammer to take the code and make a much more efficient implementation in a machine-near language, such as C. Let's hand-wave and say that would r

Valid point. Still - that doesn't categorically make it a bad choice. It just weighs a bit heavier on the con side. There are some positive effects of that dependency as well (User trust and convenience).
