I actually designed this when I hit the ok plateau learning Dvorak, so semi-relevant!

That is a problem. It uses a custom font left over from keyzen. I'll try and fix that.

It is also weighted, more common words appear more often.

There is a setting at the bottom of the page, it is still not perfect but it is there. I just changed the default to 3 words at a time.

There is a setting for that, look on the bottom. The setting doesn't make it perfect but it is certainly better. I used the design from the original key zen which is fairly pretty but I now realize not optimal for typing.

There is a setting for that, look in the bottom bar. I had some friends test it out and got the same complaint.

I made a prettier, nicer and more configurable one of these a while ago that works in Firefox too for my own use based off of Keyzen. You can set your preferred target speed and it has more accurate wpm, click measure at the bottom to to ma

You should. I'm still going to stick with Slate though because I use it as so much more than a window manager.

Someone else commented that they had written one in macruby. I looked into implementing macruby for configuration but unfortunately the embedding api is not very good. I am possibly going to implement lua configuration though.

I found slate through HN as well, I wrote this post because I didn't think people truly understood its awesomeness. The readme is a very good technical manual but doesn't explain Slate's potential very well.

Fellow high school IOS programmer here. This is pretty cool, It's nice that you get help with the art, that is the main thing that keeps me from making games. Instead I just make apps for psychological researchers: http://hume.ca/ix
