You missed the point. After you've agreed on XML, you still have to agree on how to represent a list. No I didn't. Because that's exactly what the guy in the OP said. Agree on a XML schema for the data. After you've done that, writing s

While I obviously agree that in the age of the internet, what OS you run becomes less important, this article is simply too biased to be readable. I'm sure the Linux fanboys will love it though. I could almost hear the author cheering "Li

He said: With XML, we can easily agree and collaborate on a format and both of our languages have builtin libraries to extract the data we need. You replied: OK, I'm going to send you a list using XML. The only thing you have proved her

Web 2.0 was a pretty annoying term, but it was at least loosely defined as something. Basically if you had some mix of HTML, Javascript and XMLHttpRequests doing stuff without complete page reloads, you were more or less there. Add some s

Trough third-party apps my Windows Mobile phone has automatic number-lookup, gmail, ability to look up my contacts location on google maps and what not. That is all cool. It is all subtle. I assume it's not what the author meant, but readin

I more of a C# developer than a Ruby developer, but I must admit I find the feat of building dynamic languages on top of the CLR (which really requires quite strict type-safety) pretty impressive. I'll take his word for it though that the R

I'll have to agree and disagree with that statement. Sometimes your job is to further develop an existing solution with crappy CSS and poor design, leaving 50% or more of the CSS redundant compared to a more optimal solution. In this cas

He used reusability as an argument. So having to retain the same values 100 different places in the stylesheet(s) makes them more reusable and maintainable than having the ability to define constants once ? What a joke.

How do you suggest browsers should handle php, asp, aspx, ace, pl and py files then? How would the browser know if the server-generated content is a RSS feed, a image or a HTML page? Are you seriously suggesting it's the browser which sho

To be honest, I don't think Apple's doing that...and if they are, they're doing a horrible job of it. What I mostly meant by my statement was that they are keeping expertice and experience in house, while rejecting the rest of the develop

Agreed. Any 3G phone I've had has had significantly less battery-time than your usual edge phone. This is not a iPhone-only issue, and I'm not saying it is. However: The decision on how to use that limited battery-time should be mine to mak

First everything has to go trough the iTunes AppStore. Then there is the no background-applications limitation because it might "hurt" the iPhone's image if they sucked some battery. Now this. It seems Apple is a tad over-protective about

And if you have an emergency, who cares if you get nasty phone calls? This is a great budget emergency solution. iPhone with a rip-off data-plan and budget solution in the same sentence? Steve Jobs' RDF is indeed strong with this crowd.

Just FYI: Windows Mobile phones can do this natively with no hacking. It even allows general connection sharing using a Bluetooth personal area network, with automatic DHCP and NAT. You don't even need to hack your way trough a socks-proxy.
