If you're doing Python, do consider Google App Engine. If you're doing Ruby, Heroku is a great option. Otherwise, I'd probably recommend using Slicehost. They have a great "articles" area on their site that has lots of information about set

I'd read the guides and then try to understand how a simple example application works. Then, try to deploy it to Heroku, make some modifications, and see your changes in the real world. Here's some links: http://guides.rubyonrails.org/inde

Yeah, that's not a bad idea, but I don't need it myself. If you want, please go ahead and fork the code on github and send me a pull request, though. http://github.com/trevorturk/pygments

This is an unofficial API for the Pygments syntax highlighting library, version 1.2. It's designed to provide syntax highlighting for web applications that don't have Python installed. I made it so that I can use the Pygments Python library

I was thinking of making something similar, but just with an API that you could POST to. Perhaps you could consider adding an API?

I find that having my server administration out-sourced is worth the cost. Plus, if you figure that you can run an app on Heroku for free at first, the "real" price might be lower than you think.

Thanks. Nothing personal, but I think there's a lot of trust involved in things like reminders, calendars, to-do lists, etc. Having a bad experience like this with my first try makes it much less likely that I'll give it another go.

I played with Authlogic, but I ended up switching back to restful_authentication. I know using generators is a bit more "dirty" but I just couldn't get behind Authlogic. It seemed too mysterious to trust for such a core piece of a web appli
