Agreed. Unless you're concerned with power consumption, I'm not sure where this server fits, especially with an A72 core which is a few years old. I'd love to have one of these to replace ODroid N2+ just for a rack mount solu

Microsoft releases updates once per month for Windows and associated components (sans the rare critical RCE etc.) -- for Office, you may be on Current Channel which releases ~3x/month. This would generally be unusual in a corporate env

Big Sur updates are as bad as applying any patch to Windows Server 2016. But I agree, less of an issue given it attempts to auto update overnight.

As of Windows 8, it is tickless (along with XNU and Linux). Windows refers to this as "dynamic tick".

Microsoft more or less does this already with their Office Open XML file format in SharePoint Online/OneDrive. Small changes are read/written as users edit the doc. Real-time co-authoring locks on a per-paragraph basis.

We don't have _less_ staff due to migrating from Exchange Server to EXO -- quite the opposite (and the remainder of the M365 stack has significantly grown IT, as well).

We switched to Azure AD for SSO (already had it for M365 regardless). We found more apps had OIDC support on AAD for the ones we used (40+, so admittedly small). Plus, Microsoft doesn't charge anything for MFA, unlike the $6/user

The article is obviously old and out of date (i.e. MAX_PATH, given you don't mention Office...) and at times incorrect (i.e. NT kernel performance where async I/O has historically been better than the various Linux implementations

Wont use Chrome because of the Google services. But given Edge is Chromium, they're benefiting from that development.

The lack of integration with other services is why I don't use it. I stick to MSFT Edge which also has improved battery life over Chrome.
