The Android framework is honestly a huge pain to develop with. I switched over to iOS development a year ago and am much happier. It feels almost impossible to get Activity/Fragment life cycles correct for simple things. And anything V

The best product managers in my opinion are hands off. All too often I see PM's micromanage every little detail of their product instead of letting the engineers/designers (the experts) do their work. IMO the PM should be involved

Very true, and it reminds me of the push to use "for each" statements in Java instead of looping with an index. Really it's just another "how to avoid for loops" movement.

Yea, I wasn't trying to think too hard about the subject, I know there are many excellent posts out there already (like those linked above) that go into detail. I only wanted to show some actual download numbers to demonstrate how absu

I suggest that you market the series in a different way, perhaps "An Introduction to Data Structures", or something along those lines. Out of all the bullets in your outline you really only cover lists (random access, linked) and

The article is really well written and has amazing design, but honestly does not seem very helpful. Isn't most of this learned in the first year of university? Who is the target audience in that case? Given the title, I hoped to learn

Can someone explain to me why they chose to make their own language instead of creating a DSL inside of an existing language?

This page is very irritating to read because the colors are inverted from how they should be. The current colors emphasize the question title instead of the answer. edit: Perhaps not inverted since the titles should still be skimmable, just

Totally agree. I read an article the other week where a UX/UI person redesigned booking.com's front page as a case study, and while it looked nice I bet it would have made the company far less money. Of course everyone would love

Yikes, there are a lot of grievances being aired in that thread. To clear up any confusion: Yes, I have forked my work on Storj and have given it to Counterpoint to help raise some money to continue to develop it. Please note that

More importantly, Swift's structs come close to full immutability. If you declare a struct instance with `let`, the compiler throws an error if you try mutating its properties. You also have to mark functions in the struct as mutating

Pretty good list. I don't think the tuple comparison is accurate though, I thought a data class is basically a value type (like Swift's struct) except with some stuff like equals, hashcode, and toString calculated for you. Minor n

Most of that is probably due to Swift's runtime library.

My team tried using RxJava for our Android app with mixed results. While it's easier to model some UI problems with reactive streams, and certainly more fun to write, we found it's really easy to introduce subtle bugs and performa

I think this is well deserved. Instagram Story's experience to me is way nicer and more complete since it integrates perfectly with their core photo sharing product. After I'm done viewing snaps I have on Snapchat, what else is th

It's unfortunate that their mobile site is very watered down compared to desktop. Every time I view something on my phone I have to request the desktop version of the site.

Can you explain the "a programmable semicolon" part? I've tried and tried and can't think of any way that makes sense to me. I use flatMap all the time but still don't understand the expression.

There are plenty of other ways it creates value: user retention, analytics/data mining, and more I'm sure. In my experience, people who upload family videos are more likely to not have AdBlock installed, so maybe it balances out f

I don't know a whole lot about any of this, but isn't Swift's library bundled with iOS apps? Or is that for a different purpose, such as iOS being able to run apps that target different versions of Swift?
