I don't think it really adds up. It's an inconvenient install location and roofs are replaced every 10-20ish years. It makes sense from an efficiency standpoint but the capital costs outweigh that. IMHO a pergola or carport is g

They don't pay a fraction more. Levels.fyi says I'd about double my salary and if they downlevel about 50% more.

Think this is the FAANGs entering their stodgy middle life phase like Oracle et al did decades ago. Except for Google they haven't done anything innovative in like a decade. It's time to wring money out of the monopoly and buy c

They show them now but yeah they're another ad driven service in waiting. That's ultimately the end for Meta. When ad dollars go from websites to LLMs.

I dunno I think AI is pretty cataclysmic for the ad supported web. For one, why go to any webpage instead of reading the LLM summary. For two, why look at an ad riddled page when an LLM can clean it up for you.

Yes. Nothing fundamentally has changed about the US/Europe relationship for 80 years. Trump being a royal prick doesn't mean his message is fundamentally different than what any other president would send. If the US elects Kama

Replace Iran with Iraq and this was all true 25 years ago. And that was an actual failure. Fundamentally nothing has changed about the world or the relationship between the US and its allies. Once Trump is replaced by someone closer to Eu

If we suddenly went from rail travel to jets that's exactly what would happen. We'd go from 0 to all the business flights that happen today. Everyone would be under enormous pressure to not be a laggard.

I disagree that this is well written. It's a long and meandering where unchallengeable anecdotes build up to sweeping narrative that doesn't add up. Iran has gone from a peak of power and it's proxies pulled off the biggest

I think this conflates symptoms and causes. You'd still be a code producing cow with a craft brew in your hand. $200 fun budgets, IME, doesn't help that and more often is another sort of obligation.

There was a time where people ran software on their computer with limited connectivity. Late 90s/early 2000s most of what you did was running locally on your machine. Your emails would be downloaded and there'd be a shared drive

It doesn't fundamentally solve anything. You want to be able to identify a specific person or at least a relatively expensive device so that if you ban them they stay banned.
