Lookup mutual credit cryptocurrencies (eg what Holochain plans to do with the HOT swap). In that model supply breathes directly instep with underlying demand. The users themselves are the agents that cause the supply to expand or contract.

Holochain is currently testing a rudimentary p2p chat app running on a distributed network of hosts: https://blog.holochain.org/elemental-chat-is-live/ That could be an interesting space for you to shape and explore gi

The equity piece is the key. If you sold for a lump sum you're all out and happy. But I imagine if you sell for a monthly payment, you're still emotionally attached. Would suck to check on how the business is going and regret your

The scarcity===value justification of NFTs is ridiculous. The only way to make digital artefacts "scarce" would be to never render them to pixels. You can't make a perfect copy of the Mona Lisa, but you can make a perfect cop

NFT koolaid: "NFTs are scarce therefore valuable" Me: Ctrl+C Ctrl+V NFT koolaid (real comment): "Using your argument, original Warhol screenprints are also worthless." There's that sunk cost Godin is hinting at.

People are idiots. I've met a lot of Ethereum developers who are super excited about central bank cryptocurrencies.

If you joined the Ethereum community in 2014-2016, topics like DeFi and NFT were not in the discussions. These things are pure speculative bullshit imported wholesale from the established financial system. The point of Ethereum was to build

It lost its way in 2017 during the first bubble when all of the cryptobro speculators flooded the scene. The Sydney Ethereum meetup I started in 2014 suddenly jumped in numbers and became full of wankers in suits wanting to discuss the pric

Because these bad ideas are more widespread than you know. If a video of the San Francisco School Board Commissioner saying "merit is racist" is not enough for you to recognize a growing problem, then good luck.

This is hilariously bizarre from a non-US perspective, but your country is so primitive in this area that a "Mark Cuban" branded solution is probably the most viable path out of the mess.

Guarantee they're breaking some rule for listing Sam and others on their website as "investors". If not, that's super dodgy that Coinbase Ventures allows their portfolio companies to do so.

So they extracted the PR value just long enough for people to think of them as "charitable", and then they bailed.

This has been the case in Australia for decades now. Average house price is AUD$1M. Standard deposit is 20%. Government has just allowed first home buyers to get a mortgage on a 5% deposit. While that sounds great, it's obviously just

Nobody is saying the VC industry is working class at all. The article is referring to startup founders, not people working in the VC sector. Startups are hard and poorly compensated for the majority of people who attempt them.

Super misleading. Here's the actual stats pulled from the article: * 83% of startups were all-male and got 93% of funding. * 6% of startups were all-female and got 1.3% of funding. * 11% of startups were mixed and got 5.7% of funding.
