Huge ecosystem also have issues. Your are tempted to use a library when a simple 100 line "replacement" that just does what you want will do. I think the biggest problem in programming we have right now is people using libraries u

This is what it is for me: Objective-C -> Nim (can compile to ObjC, calls methods directly without overhead) Python -> Nim (Nim is a super fast python that prevents typos) Ruby -> Nim (Nim is better in every-way) JavaScri

Nim is a super fast python that also prevents typos. I use nim everyday. 98% of my programming is in nim only. I highly recommend nim. During the day I work mostly on internal tools and dashboards, during the night I work on games. Nim comp

That is like the first thing I saw too. I was not fooled. But maybe this system works better then a free + donate button. Only data can tell... Maybe people are donating more with this system?

I want to use the func keword more. I think many of my procs can be funcs instead. In my programs i like having a simple imperative middle, but fuctional no side effects edges.

I thought so too about Nim, but then I realized how easy it is to call c libs from nim. There is infinate amount of c and c++ libs out there.

I am switching all my work to him now. It's a super fast python with types. The non nil string and sequence in this version are cleaver.

Nim is great. To me it feels like typed python that is fast. It also runs everywhere. I use its C mode on the server, its js mode on the website, and even its c++ mode to interface with c++ libraries such as steamworks which are hard to int

I chose to learn nim coming from Python, because found C++ to be annoying and difficult. It feels like python but faster. I have compiled to to JS and integrated with complex C++ libraries. I like it so far. Metaprogramming is cool feature.

What do you think about them forcing you to use Swift or Objective-C for this? Forcing you to use languages that use ref counting and object oriented pointer tables that are traversed at runtime? How much of the gains does objc_msgSend eat

Where did he get that assembler output from? It uses "jump-if-less" and "load" instead of "jl" and "mov"? Is that a swift/llvm syntax?

In jai, did you write the parser yourself or used a parser generator like yacc? In my toy languages I find writing my own parser more fun and not hard. I find it harder to make yacc do things such as indentation significance.

Majority of Minecraft comes from console/mobile. Minecraft mobile surpassed Minecraft desktop in 2013, with consoles doing same thing later. Most people don't play the original java version that has mods. Most people don't pl

This could be cool if the "401L" would have the proper tax incentives around it as well. I think there is very small tax incentive to repay student loans now. How does that work exactly? Now if Employers add matching as a benefit

Dating? Don't men and women tend to do different things? Won't men get paired with a small subset of woman who like doing manly things, and women with a small subset of men who likes doing womenly things?

Sorry I don't understand what you are trying to do. Can you provide an example of how and what this would be used for?

I have just used this script and it worked great. I used the lets encrypt normal client and it felt very bloated for me: virtual env, docker, tons of dependences. I hope lets encrypt folks put their client on a diet.

Yeah i felt the same way. I can't really tell how gnarly the if statement is, but interfaces, classes, zope, xml is way worse. Every one knows how if statements work, not so much with zope xml.

Why run any programming software on the chrome book? You can always just ssh into a box and do your dev there? I have been using that for years (and the web code editor I wrote). I have used the first Pixel as on the go dev machine for year

Or some thing like node-js but using SpiderMonkey instead of V8. Name really does not fit and blows up expectations. node-firefox-simulator would be more apt.
