Macbook Pro 10,1, early 2013. Still a very speedy machine, although I do covet the new SSDs that are almost an order of magnitude faster. Apple bluetooth keyboard, and some random mouse and an external 24" monitor. Ruby on Rails, iOS,

As an aside, an important facet of self organization is time tracking. Does HN have a good way of time tracking? I dislike the stop/start method? Something like stochastic time tracking ( https://github.com/dreeves/

I was thinking the same, until I realized that half a gig of ram is $5 which is what VULTR and DO charge for a full virtualized system. My personal projects are mostly webapps that require at least a half a gig of ram. What kinds of persona

Hey, thanks for mentioning pebble time. Is 8-10 days a realistic time frame? I got the original pebble off ebay to play with, and it really only lasted 4 days between charges, even with very light usage. For me, personally, it was too much

What kind of regiment are you following? There's technically no "wrong" way to exercise (if you're not getting injured) but certainly some approaches are better at making you "fitter".

Fantastic idea! One day I hope this will be replaced by me walking away (with my phone) for more than X meters. Meanwhile, this seems like a great solution. What else do you use the ubikey for?

The only thing missing from nvalt is support for better organization. Tags are supported but not searchable for instance. With hundreds of notes it starts getting harder to search.

Mikrotik has been rock solid for me. It's my lack of knowledge really. I adapted someone's QoS configuration and it's been working really well. Much better than anything I've tried before. My only complaint is the fact i

This looks intriguing, thank you! Over the last 10 years I've tried a number of things to get QoS working on Linux, with not much success. My most successful (and recent) attempt was to purchase a Mikrotik, but to be honest I'm no

Thanks for exposing me to ThinApp and the rest. I took a quick look, these are Microsoft based technologies designed to run Windows apps, however conceptually I don't see much difference. Docker is a containerization standard that reli

A lot of what you say resonates with me and my recent experience. I found that when I need meditation the least, it's easy to find time and the process is effortless. When I need to meditate the most, this is when I can't find the

I want to discuss your last point. With Docker, you are free to either modify the image or the running container. An image is a "template" for a container and in the scenario you describe, the ideal solution is to create a new ima

I hear you. I like the idea of "deploying" a pre-built image. Capistrano "just-in-time" deployments (particularly deployment time "bundle") seem a little non-deterministic. Docker is certainly non-trivial thoug
