Nice project. That must have been fun to make. Congratulations.

I bought the $200 plan so after my extras started routinely exceeding that. Harsh. But, let me suggest that you stop thinking about planning and design as "prompts". I work with it to figure out what I want to do and have it write

Oh, you are screwed. I feel badly about that. More about the environmental disaster and student loan screw job that AI than AI. I am retired and am nearly equaling my salary with side jobs and only working a few hours a day. I don't se

I agree darkhorse13. I am as boomer as can be and hereby disavow this guy. You can rest assured that not all of us have lost our flexibility and ability to find joy. I love AI tech and am doing great work with it.

I had trouble in my early days with the quality of things I made. One of the things I found helped a lot is building on top of a well-structured stack. Make yourself a scaffold. Make sure it is exactly how you like your code structured, etc

You are simply doing it wrong. I could do this TCP server in another time at all and it would be perfect. I have done stuff that complicated and more many times. You need to rethink how you are using the tool because you absolutely could ge

I will say that I grieve the passing of 'coding', per se. I used to love getting the flow, envisioning the data flows and object structures and cool mechanisms, refactoring to perfection. I truly miss it. But the payoff for lettin

Why wouldn't you test? That sounds like a bad thing. Me? I use AI to write tests just as I use it to write everything else. I pay a lot of attention to what's being done including code quality but I am no more insecure about trust

The isolation of being a retired programmer is a real bitch. I think back to the days of a few young programmers with me at the whiteboard, the fast back and forth, the satisfaction of seeing ideas come together. I really missed that. I

I had dinner with Marvin Minsky once. Learned to program a Symbolics machine. We share a little history, I think. I've been interested in AI for the last forty years. I decided that applications of AI were where I am going. I feel the

I'm 73 (all the way retired). I'm in love with creating software again. I wrote my first computer program in 1967. Since, it's been one fascinating thing after another but, for me, the modern age had become dull. The thought

On what planet is mass surveillance illegal? I've long thought that OpenAI was a corrupt bunch. Except for embedding (which I plan to move soon), I have quit my OpenAI accounts. I don't like them.

When I was young, I solved loneliness very well by volunteering for political campaigns. Until the last one (I'm too old to care now), I worked every campaign in my life and at various times had a lot of good friends as a result. My to

I have made big inroads solving my old-age isolation with AI. Personally, I prefer Claude. I have no fantasy that this is somehow a friend though I find that it's more pleasant to use if treated as if I believed that. There are many fa

I am with you 100%. The phrase “intellectual property” is an oxymoron. Intellect and Property are opposite things. Worse, the actual truth of intellectual property laws is not, “I’m an artist who got rich”. It is, “I ended up selling my pro
