The solution to this is way easier than blockchain: Just regulate them. Personal credit card fees in the EU are capped at 0.3% and everybody is better off.

Modern compilers aren't that much better at code golf. I tried equivalent C code and gcc-7.2 gets me 47 bytes, while clang-6.0 only manages 49 bytes (both with -m32 f.c -Os -fomit-frame-pointer). I have a feeling that size optimization

On my system the naive approach + mmap + gcc-7.2 (-O3 -march=native) gets 0.126s if the file is in cache, so 8GB/s. The same code on memory instead of a file gives me around 14GB/s. Maximum I can achieve with threads and/or i

Add a factor of two to the material costs, because without ECC, on a large scale you will have errors, so you need to double check every result. Now add some more to their TCO because they don't take MTBF into account. Suddenly the num

On the contrary, an egalitarian society is much easier to achieve if your population is homogeneous (it's just not a big achievement).
