Multi Step Images will not help if you want to build a python container and the package manager will pull in e.b. Bash for the python runtime snd many more depencies. It only saves you from adding build tools to the image.

The problem is adding ONLY the exact files needed is currently impossible when building docker containers. If you are building go/rust executables this easy, you will get one executable you'll add. But if you need to pull in some

Saying in hindsight when the error has been found that something is a wrong approach and should have never been done like this is easy. But everyone of us is daily coding simple „tricks“ to not implement a more complex solution because the

Very often your residential connection is sold as proxy to e.g. circumvent rate limits. Companies like luminati are used for example for scraping google search results and many more things.

Theres an easy solution: You set a limit and everytime a service needs to spend some many it allocates a small portion of the budget and after some threshold it will put unused money back to the budget. The only downside is that your spendi

Moving namespaces from enterprise to open source is a big step forward, kudos! In the past many discussions ended with just choosing kubernetes because isolating containers was not possible within nomad.

Same for me, i did stick to docker-compose. A production-grade single server deployment would be a real interesting case.

What you are describing is in my optinion the exact problem happening with almost all microservices. Building an aggregator microservice to join together two services is another microservice in a complex microservice landscape... People on

You are absolutely right! And with gammers setting more and more enthusiastic levels (e.g. 120fps) is a problem. But the bare minimum should be fps like a movie, so 24fps or 30fps. This will not be perfect, but any animation may look a litt

Podman would be next big thing if: 1. they make a package like docker ob mac where you dont have to fiddle with manually starting vms. An environment where using docker feels native 2. When they start the vm to run podman they will use qemu

The new turbolinks they use on hey.com is using a concept named „portals“ so different parts of the web application can be refreshed independently. My linked inside hey.com articles are very interesting.

Yeah. This is happening with all libraries by basecamp: They release something, they don‘t work on it for months (no commits, many open pull requests) and people believe it‘s dead. Then one day (today) they out of the blue release a new ver

The block could still be rewritten from the view of zfs as long as it does not update the last-written timestamp (does zfs have this?). I was just describing how it would look like from the birds eye.

But until now nobody was able to build an ARM cpu as fast as apples cou. Every server arm cpu in the past was still a lot slower than intel cpus, despite packing a lot of cores on a chip.

AWS needs to buy a lot more mac machines from apple. Without the limit everybody would start a vm for a few minutes to run a ci job and stop the machine. So there is no „sharing“ of a machine within a 24 hour window if you only need the mac
