Your randomness may also sometimes be at the edge. I am the author of the article, if you do know any failure in my approach i am happy to fix it.

I had the same feeling when reading the post. Their remark that they "estimated the cost" to be that low is in my experience a bad signal. Estimating costs on the cloud is really hard, there are so many (hidden) costs you may miss

Wouldn‘t a callback style the most easy one? Instead of complex config with so many overlapping rules you simply use a callback for everything and let the developer decide whether he wants something.

A few months ago there had been multiple articles about this behaviour but i really don‘t remember the details anymore. Does anyone know a writeup with a detailled explanation to understand how it is happening and tests to see whether your

It‘s nice that a self-hosting PaaS is built again, i have the hope that one in the end will really get traction and is not dead a few month after it has been announced. But what i really would like to see would be a self-hosted postgresql a

Your first point is already there ;) it‘s called savepoints and works exactly like nested transactions.

Couldnt you just patch the transaction logic to savepoints? So even tests building on transactional behaviour would work correctly.

If you are already comfortable with python then choose django. Learning a new framework will take time, which will be your case with django. You don‘t want to learn a new language too.

Hacks language is better, nobody will deny it. But outside of facebook there is barely no community, not many big open source projects. And as the language is now incompatible you even may not be able to use php libraries.

None of the demos seems to work on mobile. Which is kind of expected as they depend on a spacebar. But even the buttons example does not work as there is no mouse click on mobile?

There is no reason you can‘t have a deterministic function which generates a hash for the user. A simple sha256(lower(email)) is equally secure as a complete random salt, the only requirement on a salt is to be unique.

You can do the slow pbkdf2 hash on your webserver and use the result for your stored procedure to check the password. If the password column is only visible to the stored procedure you have used the best features of both systems.
