> a market or platform owner/operator should not be allowed to also be a competitor within it This problem is somewhat analogous to regulatory capture, you dominate a market so totally you get to set the rules for everyone else too.

I do the same thing, so I understand the topology - that’s why I pointed it out, your Apple TV can be made a trojan horse, as it were, for example if there is a 0-day in tvOS. (And you have to assume that there are.) I’m not saying it’s lik

The big problem for nuclear in Sweden at least is that no new staff has been trained for a long time. We couldn’t really run our shutdown reactors if we tried.

Far and away the most reoccurring noise for us is airplanes landing at Bromma Airport in Stockholm, Sweden. Because half of the city is in the descent path, we get low flying commercial airplanes, sometimes a dozen an hour. Incredible how i

To be fair, there is no partisan issues in the US over helping Ukraine either. People unite against a common enemy -- it's like that old wisdom, the worst thing to happen to the US was winning the cold war.

How does this compare to LDA? It doesn’t seem like there’s a huge difference here. For good reason perhaps, the BERT part is only to embed the sentences.

I think Python’s tendency to look like pseudo code is a big reason. It’s less intimidating than archaic incantations like “int foo = 1;” or “for (x; y; z) { … }”. While familiar to us, everybody has seen a colon followed by an indented list

Unrelated to what you wrote, but it is actually jagoff or jag-off. It is not related to jacking off.

The market tends towards monopolies. That is why you have the FTC, SEC, etc. So regulatory competition would lead to regulatory monopoly, unless you introduce meta regulators and the cycle begins anew.

Interesting idea for proof of work, a large nonlinear function where you find weights so that f(x_0) = x_1 < x_0 or something like that. To exploit ML advances.

Leonard Susskind disagrees with you. See his lectures on statistical mechanics, he is very clear that entropy is a matter of knowledge about the system. It has to be.

Is your example not easier to write and read as a 10-something line Python script? I never understood the appeal of jq etc because of this very reason.

Please don’t post low-effort dismissals of people’s projects. Not only is it rude, but also insubstantial. You can just say “IDLE does something similar […]”, and substantiate the claim. FYI, IDLE does not do what this project aims to do.

Very interesting, though I have to wonder if this wouldn’t become incredibly hard to read. You sort of always put the horse before the cart. Especially the if is incredibly difficult to parse, as the condition is already on the stack, AND t

Consent popups are legal so long as agreeing is not easier than disagreeing. Iow, you cannot make it harder to disagree - which 99.95% of them do.

In Sweden there is a rule that new loans must be amortized 1% per annum (2% if your principal is more than 60% of the value), so I guess that’s basically saying “pay it in 100 years”? Edit: actually the rule is 1% if principal to value is a
