There's a lot to be said for falling libido, as I'm noticing as I get older. In the mean time, following Internet advice, there's a lot to be said for rubbing one out before making any important decisions, especially those i

This seems like "log for girls". Is there any way whatsoever that speaker bios need to differ by gender?

To the degree that this is actually so, it's likely that human-driven cars have the same problem. The main difference is that it will be reasonably easy to permanently fix the issue with the former.

When headhunters contact me about SF (or even Bay Area) jobs, I just scoff and shut them down. If you're fresh out of school, no family, and willing to live in a hovel for some interesting life experience, sure. But if you're an

None of these stories would even make my top ten list of work horrors. Coffee is for closers. No one cares how many arrows were shot into to you, how much blood you've lost, who betrayed you. Want respect? Close.

I did for a number of years, mainly as an SSH client, and for web-based stuff. The automatic OS updates are great. A noted limitation is that there's no good X11 story. The new Linux subsystem looks very interesting, but it only work

Perhaps I should have said "Nazis", i.e., fascists, totalitarians, etc. The kind of people described in this brilliant essay: https://quillette.com/2019/02/21/what-my-days-as-a-marxist-t... An impo

It's easy to determine that Nazis are bad. It's far harder to agree on who the present-day Nazis are.

I'm about your age, and this is very relatable. My last job hunt took about six months. Among the other high points, I passed the on-site day at Google, passed the hiring committee, and then had an executive reach out to quash my hir

Ugh. It's not "bias", it's simply new science. Or perhaps "new-ish", since most of this has been known for decades.

I know a boy that created a paper-mache "bomb" for his art class. He was questioned without his parents present, first by the principal and then by the local police. His life will never be the same.

Thomas Sowell's book The Search for Cosmic Justice talks about this sort of thing in the context of social justice. However well intended, trying to do the impossible can produce atrocities.

Sympathies--much of that sounds familiar. Someone else mentioned SSC here. I tried some of the stuff he mentions, and one that probably helped some was tianeptine sulfate, which you can buy legally as a supplement, without a prescription.

Indeed, if you stare at the bar chart for a moment, you'll realize that a sufficient explanation is that women more often have the option to reduce their hours or stop working entirely. In our culture, men generally don't have th
