Agreed, Linux is way behind in kernel and userland hardening. Things are slowly getting better, with some of grsec/PaX's features being merged upstream [0] and X being slowly replaced by wayland (but it still has issues before mas

That's fair. Unfamiliar about how this works, since ntfs-3g seems to drop root after mounting. I would still not be comfortable about giving mount permissions to ordinary users (even through a setuid layer since they're known to c

Iirc, fuse is setuid anyways. Having mount privilege is equivalent to being root on linux.

Whenever you have trouble compiling something, just look at how gentoo approaches it. They're the last bastion making sure OSS is actually buildable. Them are their users most likely are the #1 source of build documentation, bug report

We don't have unlimited testing, but we have enough tests to secure a few distributions channels to at-risk population There are also other ways to sanitize these distributions channels, e.g. we know the virus can only last so long on

I agree that you have no rights to lock someone up, but society seem to have already accepted that others have the right to tell you what to do with your life, e.g. locking down someone for suicide attempt I was also comparing lockdown vs p

I'm unsure if the person you responded to undertstood what you meant. I understood it as "if I am >60+, e.g. at risk, would i be free to not participate in the quarantine if partial quarantine were to happen" I'd argu

Instead of testing people who already have symptoms, maybe we could use those tests to ensure sick people don't come into contact with their groceries? Of course quarantining part of the population is hard, but I fail to see how it is

Organic chemistry is basically doing constraint solving. E.g. you know a lot of different reactions (e.g. replace Cl by OH, add double bond), but some reactions cannot be done depending on the structure of the intermediates. I have a bachel

Any source on this? I'd be surprised if sugar would be in the distillate. It might lower the vapor pressure of alcohol itself but it shouldnt vaporize and recondensate

You can vape alcohol. Not familiar with it but I know it's a thing. You'd usually heat it up to get a buzz, but alcohol has a high vapor pressure so im sure if you vape it long enough unheated you'd get some sort of effect

I think you are focusing onthe wrong metric. Suicides are generally done by younger people more than they die of flu/covid. The years of life comparison probably is more in favorable to suicide.

Very much agreed with your stance. As far as I understand the hysteria surrounding the covid, people seem to forget that saving people is a cost analysis. Ideally the virus could be annihilated in a authoritarian regime with very heavy lock
