True, but it's like lemon laws for cars. If your new car isn't reliable, you're entitled to a refund. Yeah, there's no law that applies in this instance, but I do sympathize with the company if the code really was subpar

As far as I've seen Jquery is still using an interval to animation, and not RequestAnimationFrame. This is because of glitchiness that occurs when you switch tabs during animations. http://bugs.jquery.com/ticket/93

I think it's more indicative of the way applications are being used these days. Create a gimmick -> gain incredible popularity -> try to monetize your product -> users switch to the next gimmick -> create a new gimmick.
