How far does this "Ofcom" got to have their head up their arse not to see they're just doing free promotion for a website they disagree with? How far must the politicians have had their heads up their arses to enact such a br

That's the false assumption that unmaintained is insecure. Any old DOS game in Dosbox would be insecure by that logic. So if I run Dune2 in dosbox, is that a security issue? Of course not, but if you were to load a bitmap from the netw

In pkgsrc, building packages isn't done by default and 100% optional. I'm not sure what logic you're ascertaining here. There were operating systems before package managers and AFAICT IIRC the first package manager "repo

I see security as a stopgap measure when there's no peace. The best "security" is not to need any in the first place.

SuSE doesn't ship ventoy and the installer does boot and work just fine. It's likely a bug in ventoy. SuSE doesn't test that and why would they? Perhaps ventoy doesn't like SuSE.

Exactly. Yes, I've used them and it was horrible. For me, the difference is in do I get to compile this from sources myself or do I get someone elses compiler output? IOW it's not comparing vastly different vehicles, but rather a

Sure they're different. They all download blobs and can then execute them. Exactly how, when and why is completely different but they still get you blobs.

Who besides Joyent and NetBSD would ever do a bulk build? Portage can also do binary packages. That doesn't mean you have to have them. You can just not ever enable them and be fine.
