The press release is interesting. Not the best way to present their data. Immediate conclusion of many newspapers is "oxford vaccine is less effective then...".

You can get an extensive screening for around 120 here in Amsterdam. Probably more expensive if I go through official doctor and have to pay it with eigen risico (first few 100 euros of healthcare you pay yourself).

I always wondered why we are overly focused on the conditions that created life on earth. Arguably it makes sense to see similar conditions lead to life. But do we really know enough to assume that's only way?

Some of them were indeed clueless. But also a bunch of them were great developers. I remember one who came from Flash and easily adopted the react.js SPA mindset without really understanding HTML/dom. For him almost never was it a prac

Agreed. I've worked with quiete a bunch of frontend developers on react applications (with serverside rendering) who didn't realise that in the end all it does is render HTML pages. And didn't have any or much experience with

To not need many custom helper functions like this I still prefer to throw in jQuery for "small" more serverside oriented projects. It gives a well documented and standardized API.

Spending a lot of time with Tibetan Buddhism it led me to conclude our Western view on human rights is very very special and not natural at all. We should really cherish it. It is probably, and often, tied to the evolution of Christianity a

Maybe I should dive more into it, but everytime I read a project that claims to be "serverless" I have a really hard time to understand what it actually does or solves. What is serverless about? Is it the next big thing? Or just t

The idea of bullshit jobs started a few years ago mostly based upon the idea that the people doing themselves felt like they were doing bullshit jobs, and therefore not feeling fullfilled.

Maybe we don't have to move certain things, like "design", into the area of technology :). Frontenders at the the time didn't see themselves as engineers.

Some people just get development. I had one close person who was able to learn webdev and become and highly skilled freelance developer in 0.5 to 1.5 year (having played with computers his whole life), I had another friend who after 3 to 4

I've seen few organisations where there was a group of frontenders specialised in html/css. Even integrated in continious development. It's a fine line, but with backbone.js and sass they could manage, but with react and post
