You can absolutely use it directly, but it is painful. The USP of Arrow ist that you can pass bits of memory between Polars, Datafusion, DuckDB, etc. without copying. It's Parquet but for memory.

That explains why it's so nice. Well, not really, but it does hint at it being new and built by someone who gives a damn. It's honestly far nicer for my use than vi or nano, which is annoying since I'm on Linux. Edit: Fedora

I should have made clear that being a parent _of young children_ is destruction of the self. I'm sure once the kids are all old enough to use the toilet independently and otherwise entertain themselves it will be different. But right n

Becoming a parent is basically a destruction of the self. My sister and her husband get 1-2 hours of time for themselves per day, and then they are too tired to do anything but watch TV. They've ceased to exist as individuals, basicall

It's a bit shit at being WhatsApp. Slow, buggy, and feature-poor. The unique selling points are very compelling, but only for a small niche. Fortunately for Matrix, that niche includes a lot of places with big budgets, but it does not

Quick questionnaire. Please reply with how much you like/use AI and what kind of programming you do. I wonder if there are some interesting groupings.

The situation is absolutely insane, but it's also productive, but real security would slow everything down a lot. The moment you ask some corporate bureaucrat to put their signature down on a piece of paper saying that such and such de

Most member countries are too small to have their own capabilities. It's either some sort of EU capability or outsourcing to US/China. Denmark can't afford operating a fleet of stealth bombers or whatever. In the past, basica

The US capital markets are truly a wonder to behold. There's no way to replace that. For good and ill, you'd only get weird looks in Europe if you asked for €10 billion for an unproven business model in what's somehow also a

Why is it a good database? Integration with Entra? I've heard arguments in favor of Oracle DB, but I've never heard anything good about MSSQL besides integration with the MS ecosystem.

The rising cost has been a problem for a long time now. It's mostly models and textures fit for high-res screens, and cutscenes etc. to accompany them. That said, there is space at the top for a few companies to do this sort of develop

Many wired networks are IPv4-only, so you've excluded a bunch of consumers. It'd be like not supporting the Edge browser.

Not any reference, though, but a specific style of one: A reference mostly written as a box-ticking exercise, written more for the writer than the reader. I like manpages, but the microcontroller manuals rarely reach those lofty heights.
