A bit weird that cross platform apps use dot files or dot directories directly in %Home% on Windows. If they already are cross platform, thus taken the time and resources to do that, why not add a compile flag to move them into %AppData%?

There was a closely related movement at the time that called for that languages should have minimal "bloat", combined that with importing only what you need down to single functions, it was viewed as the future of programming. I w

Yes, old printer drivers yes for Windows can be a problem, often because of the 32 to 64 bit switch, I have that exact problem with an old printer that still works but can't get it to install on 64 bit. 20 year old software is rarely a

Many languages misses that abstraction to make things private in a folder (namespace) hierarchy to outside consumers. This is something I like to see solution to (integrated with your IDE of choice)

About 20 percent of all bugs in the Linux kernel are use-after-free. With that said, I think proper tooling can solve much of the problems with unsafe memory languages. Question is then, why doesn't it happen? Are developers uninformed

One big plus for IUP over wxWidgets is that API of IUP is very clean & easy to use compared to the complex C++ API of wxWidgets.

IUP is well designed, source code is clean and easy to read and it is easy to create bindings for it. No overusing of weird macros, no large structs to define (IUP uses void pointers) or other C-isms that can be hard to translate over langu

The idea of introducing bugs to users that doesn’t conform 100% to intended use of your software is not good idea, what will happen is that your software will be perceived as buggy in general.

This is how I write PHP. The author made a trip to rust to come to this conclusion, what I did was to start using PhpStorm many years ago, that helped me remove many bad habits, like relying on magic and stringly types.

I think you have to grade code in your project, i.e not every piece of code has the same value, high value => more strict, low value => less strict. Less strict code is something that you can throw away and rewrite without too much ef
